5th annual Immunization Fair offers drive-up services

The first day of the fifth annual Immunization Fair at Biloxi High School experienced a new way of doing things due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The drive-thru style fair arranged by the Biloxi Excel by 5 Coalition allows parents to take advantage of the opportunity and be a step ahead going into the next school year.

Parents and children in pre-K4, kindergarten, and returning students to Mississippi schools remained in their vehicles to receive their immunizations.

There was a small turnout for day one, but experts encourage parents now is not the time to wait until the last minute.  Dr. Wendy Williams said, “With COVID-19, pediatric offices can’t be flooded with patients. We just can’t do that to stay safe. That’s really important to take advantage. It’s an environment that they can stay safe in their own vehicles and they will get the vaccines they need.”

Additional fair dates will be held at the high school on June 18th, June 23rd, June 24th, and on July 14th and 16th.

You must bring an insurance card, photo ID, and shot record for your children to receive immunizations.
