$50,000 up for grabs as part of United Way of South Mississippi’s Nifty 50 Raffle

We could all use an extra 50 grand, couldn’t we? It may sound out of reach, but you may just have a shot at winning the money while helping people right in our local community.

It’s all hands on deck as workers and leaders with the United Way of South Mississippi go full speed ahead with this year’s Nifty 50 Raffle and there’s a lot at stake.

Tickets cost $100 and there are a lot of prizes, fit to suit anyone’s palate, besides the $50,000 grand prize up for grabs in this year’s raffle. United Way of South Mississippi CEO Kathy Springer said, “Who doesn’t want a gallon of gumbo from Mary Mahoney’s. I know I do, so we have that up. We have some fine dining options up also, and condo stays. You can have a great staycation right here on our Mississippi Gulf Coast.”

Springer says it’s a great investment for our local community with 99 cents on every dollar going directly to South Mississippi nonprofits and organizations who are trying to fill the gap for unexpected costs from COVID not built into their budgets. “Just this year, we have put about $290,000 into community resources to help those affected by COVID for medications, housing and utilities assistance, and basic needs. We had a very successful school supply drive. Those school supplies went to all those school in the counties we serve.”

You have until October 27th at 5 p.m. to purchase your ticket for the drawing on October 28th. “Tickets are $100 each. All you have to do is text nifty50 – no spaces, to 91999, and the form will work. If you prefer to come by our office, we’re right here in the Knight Non-Profit building here in Gulfport off Seaway Road. You can come in and buy it in person. We’ll bring one to you. It couldn’t be easier to buy a ticket. You could log on to www.unitedwaysm.org, and follow the campaign link right to Nifty 50, and you can get your ticket there.”
