5/5 – Jeff Vorick’s “Strong Thunderstorms” Friday Evening Forecast

Showers and thunderstorms are moving through the area. Some are capable of strong damaging wind gusts and very heavy rain. Once the complex of thunderstorms makes its way through South Mississippi, rain chances and the threat for severe thunderstorms will diminish quickly. Expect muggy conditions and mostly cloudy skies tonight.

Tomorrow will be a warm and steamy day. Showers and thunderstorms are poised to be around with a 70% chance especially after mid-morning. The summer-like pattern will build in for much of the extended period. Sunday looks to be drier while Monday will feature the potential for a round or two of thunderstorms.

Ridge of high pressure will build in for much of the extended period. Activity in terms of rain chances should be less widespread during the middle of the week. Rain chances may elevate again towards the end of the week.
