40th annual Christmas tree lighting in Pascagoula
Today, Downtown for the Holidays kicked off with the 40th annual City of Pascagoula Christmas Tree Lighting.
Hundreds of people gathered around as the mayor of the city brought the Christmas spirit into downtown Pascagoula. After the Christmas tree lighting, Santa and Mrs. Claus made a special appearance and were available for pictures with the children. There was also a kid’s snow area as well as music and free rides.
Downtown businesses were also open for holiday shopping and restaurants were open for dinner. Suzanne Kinsey with the City of Pascagoula Community Relations said, “Just look around, I mean it’s a joyous occasion. It’s something that’s a holiday tradition. I think it’s just a great way to kick off the holidays for Pascagoula and for our citizens and of course local people that come to check this out as well. It’s just a great event. Everybody is happy and tons of smiling faces. It’s just a fun event.”
This is the 17th year the City of Pascagoula hosted the Downtown for the Holidays event.
