4/1 – Payton’s Monday Afternoon Forecast

The cold front that moved through the area yesterday is now well south of the area in the central Gulf. Overrunning moisture on the backside continues to aide in the production of post frontal rain in the northern Gulf. As the rain and cloud shield move farther away, full sun will allow for temperatures to moderate. Not expecting a warm day by any means, but should be a nice bump from yesterday. Highs should be topping out in the mid-60s.

A reinforcing cold front will move through this evening with possibly a few showers. Temperatures will finally rise back to normal Wednesday as a fast moving high-pressure passes across the area. A return of moisture as well as rainfall will move back into the region. Models show that this could be the next chance for severe weather over the area. Cooling in the mid-levels while surface moisture surges in will increase instability considerably.

spc’s thursday OUTLOOK INCLUDES NORTHWESTERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA, HIGHLIGHTING THIS POTENTIAL THREAT. ALL MODES OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE POSSIBLE.
