32nd Annual Asgard Toy Run

You could hear the roar of hundreds of engines last weekend as motorcycle clubs gathered to provide some guaranteed holiday cheer for needy boys and girls of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Bike after bike converges in Biloxi for an annual gathering that gives back to those in need during the Holiday Season. Asgard Motorcycle Club’s 32nd Toy Run is bringing together members of the riding community from across the entire Gulf Coast to collect toys at various meeting places before joining forces to load up an 18-wheeler with toys in an effort to make sure no child goes without this Christmas. Smokey with the Asgard Motorcycle Club said, “Normally we have an 18-wheeler full of toys and as you can see right now it’s being packed. And it’s grown from about 30 motorcycles about over 30 years ago to now we have about six or seven hundred motorcycles.”
More than 20 motorcycle clubs are a part of this event every year. It’s grown each year since its inception, becoming one of the biggest Christmas fundraisers on the Coast.
There are so many bikes involved in this toy run that traffic has to be stopped every year as Asgard and their friends deliver toys to the boys and girls of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Jeff Mortenson with the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club said, “Man this is the motorcycle community doing exactly what we’re here for. That is to help others. It doesn’t matter what cut you wear, what club you ride with, we’re here for one common goal.”
Farmer with US Military Vets Motorcycle Club said, “It’s great. Everybody’s got this image of the big, bad bikers and most of us aren’t like that at all. We’re regular guys. We’ve got jobs, we’ve got families, we love kids. So this is what we love to do.”
These toys are delivered to the Knights Of Columbus, Salvation Army, Hopehaven and other charities where they’ll be distributed to children in need this holiday season.
