3/18 – Meteorologist Rob Martin’s “Spring Officially Arrives” Friday Evening Forecast
We actually had some record-high temperatures Friday afternoon after the storms moved on. Gulfport-Biloxi airport sky-rocked into the mid 80s, easily breaking the old record of 79 degrees set just two years ago.
Although we did get a few severe t-storm warnings this morning, the tornadoes ended up mainly in southern Alabama. Much cooler air arrives late tonight, dropping us down to about 50 by daybreak Saturday. We’ll get up into the 60s to around 70 for Saturday and Sunday (first day of Spring!)
Weekend nights, especially Saturday, will be a bit chilly with a few furnaces cutting on again. Expect mid 40s late Saturday night and closer to 50 for Sunday night.
A southeast flow returns Monday, bringing afternoon temps into the lower 70s. As a result Monday night will be much milder, leading to another round of strong to severe storms sometime Tuesday.
Behind that temps could fall to below-normal values but certainly not a repeat of our early-March cold.
