2nd Annual Librarycon

This weekend in Vancleave, the Jackson County public library hosted their second annual Librarycon. At the mini-convention there were costumed characters, comic book and video game artists, tables covered with game demonstrations, free chess lessons, a miniature painting station, and more. A colorful crowd packed into the library, surpassing the expectations of the library staff. Branch manager Jeanne Damiano tells News 25 the library put this event on in hopes of drawing attention to the library while giving the community something fun to do.
Jeanne Damiano tells News 25, “This is a family event, it’s for all ages, and the main reason that we wanted to put on the library con was to get- people inside the doors of the library. Also to showcase what libraries have- to offer, we have books, videos, magazines, fun programs. The library has something for everybody. Some people say they don’t read that’s ok. This is place for people to meet, its community center.”
Vancleave’s public library is a member of the Jackson/George county regional library system.
