2nd Amendment Weekend
For the fourth year, the Mississippi 2nd Amendment Weekend will save shoppers money on firearms, ammunition, archery equipment, and select hunting supplies.
The tax free sale starts today and ends at midnight Sunday. Governor Phil Bryant signed the law creating this tax free holiday to celebrate Mississippi’s great outdoor heritage.
This morning, News 25 visited local shops to speak with owners about the surges in business they see when the weekend deals go into effect. Kevin Riley with Dad’s Super Pawn said, “The sports weekend is great for Dad’s Super Pawn, we enjoy all the sportsmen coming in so we can make them great deals so they can get out and enjoy the outdoors. I’d like to thank the governor for doing this. It’s been a great weekend every year for the past three or four years that we’ve been doing this.”
The tax exemption this weekend applies to guns, scopes, and mounts, most archery equipment, ammunition, and slings and gun cases, but it does not apply to hunting clothing and shoes, binoculars, or gun safes.
