22nd annual Gulf Coast Winter Classics

The Gulf Coast Winter Classics have been a staple on the Coast for the last 22 years. The horse competition brings the best of the best right to our own backyard.

This seven week event began on February 13th and will run through March 27th.

The equestrian competition features some of the best riders from America and beyond. The competition is already in its second week and officials say each week keeps getting better and better.  Event Coordinator Janet McCarroll said, “It’s been going great, the first week is always a little bit chaotic, but now we are just settling into our rhythm and things have been going great, and the weather is being really cooperative today. We hope that holds for the next six weeks. So, we are getting into our rhythm and it is really great. We have a lot of people here and I think we’re gonna have a good time.”

You can go to the Harrison County Fairgrounds and watch the horses compete anytime free of charge. For an exciting show, event organizers recommend going to see the Grand Prix competition every Sunday at 2 p.m.
