GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Betty Price must have been doing something right over the year to have the turn out she did for her 90th birthday on Saturday.
The longtime Gulfport resident was surprised by friends, family, and community members with a drive-by parade, complete with a police escort.
As each car pulled up to Granny Price’s home, the 90-year-old smiled, laughed, and said hello to loved ones she hasn’t seen in a while due to the pandemic.
Annie Taylor says, “It’s been a while. It’s probably been about a year since she has seen, you know, just about everybody how they are now because we normally have family reunions every year, but it was different. We didn’t have this year because of COVID-19.”
The birthday queen had some of her own words of reflection when looking back on her 90 years of life.
“I just want to say, I’m just so thankful that the Lord has helped bless me to live and be here one more time to get to be 90 years old. And it hasn’t been peaches ‘n cream all the time, but it’s sweet to know the Lord is taking care of me. And I’ve got plenty of friends. You can see that,” Price said.
Over the course of her 90 years of life, Granny Price has impacted many lives, from her own children’s to her great-grandchildren’s. Price’s attitude and outlook on life is always positive and thankful.
