Counties on the list have had 200 new cases within 14 days or an average of 500 cases per 100,000 people.  Governor Reeves said, “The best way in which to manage the situation is to focus on those areas where the most transmission is occurring. We didn’t just pick these counties out of the blue, we decided that the right metric that we would put in place is that if you’ve had at least 200 cases within the last 14 days, because remember if you’ve had 200 cases within the last 14 days, and you’re currently seeing the kind of transmission that we’re having, if we don’t work very, very hard in those areas, we’re going to have more than 200 cases over the next 14 days and that’s what we’ve got to do to get ours squared down. That’s something that we’re working very hard to do.”

Other counties on the list for mask mandates are Hinds, DeSoto, Rankin, Washington, Sunflower, Jefferson, Grenada, Madison, Claiborne, Wayne, and Quitman.

There is no change to the current rules for restaurants, casinos, and bars.
