During a virtual Moss Point Board of Aldermen meeting tonight, a few citizens continued to voice their concerns over the Black Lives Matter mural outside city hall.

People who joined the meeting during the public comment portion asked Mayor Mario King why the mural was placed in the middle of the street and questioned the use of the Black Lives Matter message.

However, Mayor King tells News 25 while people still have differing opinions within the city, he’s encouraged by overtures of unity and togetherness from residents. “The reality is, I heard a common theme tonight, and I feel like that was ‘work together, unify our community, bring us together.’ I heard that so many times.”

Additionally tonight, the board of aldermen also passed a measure requiring masks to be worn in all public buildings including gas stations and restaurants within the city as they continue to battle the COVID-19 crisis.
