Earlier today, the Humane Society of South Mississippi held a drive-thru pop-up wellness clinic at the Kroc Center in Biloxi.
Due to COVID-19, the clinic was converted to a drive-thru. Owners didn’t need to leave their cars. They simply pulled up with their pets and the professionals took care of the rest.
The event offered free wellness exams for the first 50 pets from low income households in the 39530 zip code area.
Some of the free services included dog and cat vaccinations for rabies and parvo.
The free pop-up clinic was made possible by a life-saving grant given to the Humane Society last year by the PetCo Foundation. HSSM Development Director Katie King said, “Well we know that people love their pets, but they don’t always have the resources to provide for their pets. So that’s where we come in. When we win these grants we’re able to offer these free services so that they can keep their pets in their homes rather than surrendering them back to the shelter.”
The Humane Society hopes to host one pop-up clinic in a different targeted area in the community each quarter.
