As COVID-19 continues to impact our state, services such as animal shelters continue to make adjustments to their operations.
Over at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, they currently are unable to take in animals except in emergency cases as a result of the pandemic.
However, they remain open by appointment only every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12 to 4 p.m. for animal adoptions.
Maridee Mallett with the shelter says that while it’s a tough time for everyone the fact that people remain interested in adopting is very encouraging. “People are seeing it’s a good thing to have an animal as a partner, you have your social distancing partner, a companion. Then you fall in love and you keep them forever. So that’s the good part about it.”
