Sweethearts, the pastel colored candies with romantic messages on them, are back for Valentine’s Day.
After a yearlong hiatus, the beloved candy is being produced in time for the romantic holiday.
The candy was absent last year after changing ownership.
In order to ensure that there would be Sweethearts this year the original Sweethearts equipment from the former Necco factory in Massachusetts was moved to another plant in a yearlong process that involved transporting 60 truckloads of equipment and in some cases lifting out larger pieces of equipment through the roof with a crane.
Due to high consumer demands in 2020, the candy hearts will be available at drugstores nationwide. However, regional stores will have them in limited supply.
