RIDGELAND, Miss. (WXXV) — “Medical Marijuana 2020” is a campaign that says their goal is to “make medical marijuana available to Mississippians who have debilitating medical conditions in a legal and safe manner.”
Initiative 65, which would give sick Mississippians the option of using medical marijuana from licensed treatment facilities, will appear on voters’ ballots in November later this year.
The group’s statement of support for the initiative comes shortly after the Mississippi Board of Health expressed “strong opposition” to the proposed measure.
The doctors in support of medical marijuana say the Board’s statement is “filled with misinformation and outdated arguments.”
If Initiative 65 is passed, the Mississippi Department of Health will be responsible for regulating how medical marijuana is grown, processed, and made available to ensure safe and secure access for qualified patients.
