The second half of the school year is well underway and the Extend a Hand, Help a Friend Foundation wants to make sure students in South Mississippi finish strong.
So, they teamed up with Climb CDC to host free after school tutoring sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the end of the school year.
Students will be in classroom type setting with assistance from local educators. They will also have access to a computer lab to finish online assignments.
This is a great way for students to stay focused while getting extra help outside of school. Jeffrey Hulum III with Extend a Hand, Help a Friend said, “A lot of our youth, they learned from what they see. If they see the community cares about them, they will put more emphasis and effort into their studies. Also, Ms. Jeanine, like she always says, sometimes the parent is at work so somebody has to be there to help the kids. So, why not utilize the anchor of our community which is the family life center to enrich those kids’ education.”
The tutoring sessions are from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Family Enrichment Center in Gulfport. Teachers will be there to assist second through 12th grade students.
