Leonardo DiCaprio’s environmental organization, Earth Alliance, will donate three million dollars to fight the Australian wildfires.
The foundation announced Thursday; it started a new fund, the “Australia Wildfire Fund” to help relief efforts.
So far, at least 25 people have died and 2,000 homes were leveled as fires destroyed an area twice the size of Maryland.
This has been the country’s hottest and driest year on record.
DiCaprio is a co-chair of Earth Alliance which launched last year to combat the effects of climate change.
Other celebrities have pitched in as well. Chris Hemsworth and Elton John both donated one million dollars each to fight the flames earlier this week.
