For the first time since 2005, the West Jackson County Planning Department will get a new facility.
Today, ground was broken for the more than 1,600 square foot building. The $680,000 project will feature office space, a break room, and a conference room.
Jackson County District Four Supervisor Troy Ross says that this was a long overdue project. “They’ve been working out of a trailer for the past seven to eight years. Before that, they shared an office space with another department. So now they are finally going to have their own home, 1,620 square feet, something that the people in this area need and deserve, something that the employees need and deserve.”
Ross says that the plan is to have the new facility open in the fall of 2020.
