A new multi-million dollar casino and resort could soon be making its way to the City of Biloxi.
Biloxi Capital published its notice of intent to apply for gaming site approval for a 30-acre tract of land in East Biloxi where Tivoli Hotel once stood.
According to a public notice, the casino and resort is expected to contain approximately 100,000 square feet of gaming space and approximately 1,300 hotel rooms, 100,000 square feet of convention space and other amenities if approved by the Mississippi Gaming Commission. Cecilia Dobbs-Walton with the City of Biloxi said, “East Biloxi is a place that is slowly coming back after Hurricane Katrina. We have a lot of development going on. We still have a lot of residents that live there, a lot of people that enjoy the parks and stuff that is going on in East Biloxi, beautiful waterfront over there in East Biloxi. So something of this growth will hopefully stem more development and more to happen in that area.”
The development of the resort would be expected to drive thousands of new jobs and millions in additional revenue to state and local governments and Biloxi public schools.
