Dozens of locals dressed to impress and gathered in the Magnolia Room at the Beau Rivage Thursday night for a ‘Night to Change Lives’ put on by the Gulf Coast YMCA.
They rolled out the red carpet for a special woman who dedicated her life to helping others in the community.
Becky Montgomery-Jenner was given this year’s ‘John R. Blossman Humanitarian Award’ to honor her lifetime of service.
This is the 11th year the award has been given and folks involved say they are thrilled. YMCA Wellness Director Joey Conwill said, “Because it’s a job being our humanitarian. They need to get a list together. There are a lot of things they need to do to get ready. They send out notes so they’re being a humanitarian just by being honored tonight.”
Montgomery-Jenner said, “My daddy taught me you will treat everyone with dignity and respect and as a result of that I learned from the best to be compassionate and caring and treat people the way I wanted to be treated.”
