Comeback Coolers volunteers heading to Texas

Folks here on the Coast are no strangers to natural disasters. So when other states are hit hard by Mother Nature, South Mississippians are always willing to lend a helping hand.

Today the Ocean Springs community gathered to help the local non-profit Comeback Coolers pack up supplies to take over to Texas for those who have been impacted by the flooding.

Comeback Coolers will be heading to Vidor and Beaumont, Texas tomorrow with around 200 coolers filled with beer, other drinks, oranges, wet wipes, among other things.  Comeback Coolers Founder Heather Eason said, “Well, I think the biggest thing about this is encouraging people. Vidor, Texas has been instrumental in Comeback Coolers being successful and being able to branch out. The good will that comes out of that community is just astronomical. So, in their time of need there is absolutely no question that we are going to be there for them. They are completely there for us and people on the East Coast. We have to be there. We want to be there.”

Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson said, “Comeback Coolers is a great organization because they know very well how when you are in need, when a storm hits or something like that, just what you need and the quality of life, I think this is a quality of life thing.”
