William Carey University in Hattiesburg is setting the stage for a Secretary of State Candidates Forum on October 3. With the general election coming up on November 5, Mississippi’s two Secretary of State candidates, democrat Johnny Dupree of Hattiesburg and republican Michael Watson of Pascagoula, have agreed to talk about their positions, and why they are running during a public forum, set at 4 pm at the Thomas Fine Arts Auditorium at William Carey University’s Hattiesburg campus on October 3.
Dupree was Hattiesburg’s mayor from 2001 to 2017, and prior to being mayor, he was a member of the Forrest County Board of Supervisors for ten years.
Watson represents District 51 in the Mississippi State Senate. An attorney, he was elected to the state senate in 2007.
The event is free and open to the public.
