The Harrison County Board of Supervisors approved the county’s budget for fiscal year 2020 earlier this week and with the new budget comes improvements for fire safety in the county.
Harrison County’s fire services will see an increase in its operating budget in the new fiscal year, which will go towards hiring more full-time firefighters, acquiring new equipment, and more staff training.
The exact amount of the budget increase has yet to be released, but Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan says it helps the county improve its fire ratings and boosts fire safety for residents. “We have fire stations throughout the county that can get to somebody in need, if it is medical or a fire, quickly, and that makes a difference.”
The new budget goes into effect on October 1st.
