Back to school is a busy time for parents as they rush to get their children everything they need for the new school year.
That’s why Delmost White, a high schooler, was inspired to help start a supply drive in his community. Recognizing the need for one with two elementary schools in the area, the City of Biloxi and other local organizations teamed up to donate all things school supplies and at least 100 backpacks this Saturday at John Henry Beck Park.
Biloxi Councilman Felix Gines says a flourishing community starts with education and the youth. “As you know, as our community continues to grow and continues to flourish after the rebuilding, this is a great opportunity to give back. We have a lot of events. We’re gonna have water slides, a lot of things for kids to do. We also have something special. We’re raffling off two bicycles for free for two great students, a boy and a girl. We plan on having an awesome time this weekend.”
Gines says there are many supply drives across East Biloxi this weekend all the way from the Kroc Center to John Henry Beck Park.
