High school students from numerous states across the south are in Gulfport to test their robotics skills.
The third annual Beach Bot Battle is taking place at Gulfport High School. Twenty-four robots and teams are competing in the two-day event.
Robots earn points and advance in the competition by moving panels to block holes and filling up rockets with inflatable balls.
The event also gave participants the chance to improve and build upon problem-solving skills. First Robotics Coach Clint Brawley said, “The important part is the students get to use those skills to solve a problem then they are going to experience failure. They work on overcoming that failure. What we’re really doing is generating our next generation of problem solvers.”
The Beach Bot Battle will crown a winner Saturday afternoon following a playoff round.
