The Mississippi Highway Patrol is gearing up for the Fourth of July holiday by beefing up patrols on the road.
It’s all a part of a statewide campaign called ‘Drive Right Mississippi.’ Things kicked off July 1st and runs through the whole month.
Law enforcement will be focused on left-handed lane law, distracted and impaired driving, speeding and seat belt usage.
Public Relations Officer Trooper Cal Robertson says he wants everyone to enjoy a safe Fourth of July holiday. “We’re asking motorists to be safe this Fourth of July weekend, leave early and be patient. There’s going to be a lot of travel on the roads and there’s probably going to be a lot of people in the left lane, but we’re out there looking for those people that are impeding traffic in the left lane and we’re there to correct that problem.”
