A Biloxi City councilwoman is using an old school method in her bid to meet face-to-face with her constituents as she campaigns for state office.
Ward 3 City Councilwoman and Mississippi State Senate candidate Dixie Newman held a free fish fry at Hiller Park in Biloxi. Newman visited with voters to discuss her campaign platform and share some southern fried food.
Newman tells News 25 she’s been holding fish frys and public gatherings for years now and finds it important to connect with residents on a more social level. “It’s about communicating with them on that level, being approachable, and coming up with ideas together of what we can do to change at the state level. I think it’s very important because I’m trying to be their voice in the state level and not going up there with my own agenda.”
Newman plans to have more public meet and greets in the near future.
