A grand jury has found no criminal conduct in the shooting of 26-year-old Joshua Jones by an officer of the Gulfport Police Department.
The incident unfolded on September 4th, 2018 when a car that Jones was riding in was pulled over for questioning. Jones jumped out of the car and fled on foot. He was later arrested and charged with possession of a weapon after a felony conviction.
Police had been canvassing the area following several reports of drive-by shootings.
After full and deliberate consideration of all the facts and circumstances, a grand jury finds no criminal conduct on behalf of the Gulfport police officer and further finds that his actions were appropriate in the situation.
