2019 Shuckers Kids Clinic

Young Coast ball players packed into MGM Park this morning for the chance to learn from a former Major League player.

The Biloxi Shuckers and former New York Mets catcher Barry Lyons teamed up to host the Biloxi Shuckers Kids Clinic. Kids ages nine to 12 went station to station on the field learning the basic fundamentals of the game.

Following drills, Lyons and Shuckers players took photos, signed autographs, and ate lunches with the kids.

The Shuckers will be inviting all of the participants back to tonight’s game to be recognized on the field. Shuckers ambassador Barry Lyons said, “They come and watch these players play, hopefully a lot. But, seeing them on the field, playing, and doing their thing and then getting to know them and be with them and hang out with and interact with them, you know, personally. It’s a whole new ballgame.”

Shuckers first baseman Weston Wilson said, “Each year we get a chance to and it’s just nice being able to come out here and a lot of these kids come to the games. It’s a good chance to get to teach them some stuff.”

The Shuckers will be going for their seventh win in their last eight games tonight against the Smokies at MGM Park.
