2017 Primary Election Candidates Forum

The Biloxi NAACP and the local chapter of the league of women voters hosted a candidate’s forum with those running in the 2017 Biloxi citywide primary elections.
The purpose was to inform the community and help local grasp a stronger sense of the skills, abilities and interest of the candidates.
The forum addressed questions to the candidates running for the Biloxi mayor’s seat and the ward one and two city council seats.
Some questions addressed to each candidate were, what are some of the main issues that are needed to be done to the city of Biloxi, should
The state flag be banned, and the funds concerning the BP oil spill.
Residents who attended the forum tell News 25 they are ready to see what each candidate has to offer and are eager to see what they plan to do to make changes to the city.

“We have a lot of construction going on in our area and of course we’ve had a lot of issues being developed because of that construction and we want to make sure that’s taken care of as quickly as possible. So we want to see what kind of plan they have for helping this to come to…”

Running for the mayor’s seat are incumbent Andrew “Fofo” Gilich, Jess Kennedy, and Sugar Stallings.
Ward one candidates, George Lawrence and Wiliam Kai Landry were not in attendance…
And running for ward two are Felix Gines and Charlie Clay also, Ronald Weeks who was also not in attendance.
The primary elections are May second.
