2015 Mississippi Elections Now Open for Candidates

Monday was the first day Mississippians can qualify to run in the 2015 state elections. One person who will not be on the ballot this year is Jackson County’s longtime circuit clerk, Joe Martin. Martin has served the county for more than 36 years and announced Monday that he will not run again.

Martin says, “I’m honored and blessed and humbled by their overwhelming support for many, many years. I want to thank everybody and let them know I’ll still be there to help them for the rest of this year. We’re gonna’ have a big year in 2015 with all the elections coming up and everything, so I’ll be looking forward to working with everybody.”

If you’d like to run for any office in Mississippi, you have until the end of February to qualify with your county circuit clerk.
