2 arrested in Pearl River County after deputies find drugs in vehicle at safety checkpoint

CARRIERE, Miss. (WXXV) — The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department has released information regarding two arrests that were made about two weeks ago.

The new report says that on April 23, 2020 at 2:26 a.m., deputies were conducting a safety checkpoint on Mcneil Steephollow Road when a black Chevrolet car approached them occupied by passengers Ronnie Fleming and Kira Viverito.

The Sheriff’s Department says it was discovered that the driver didn’t have a driver’s license and Ronnie had an active warrant for Simple Assault Domestic Violence and Disorderly Conduct. Kira was found to be in possession of two baggies containing a green leafy substance (marijuana).

Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and found Ronnie had a bag containing a plastic box with needles and spoons. A flashlight was also found in the bag and the flashlight contained a baggie with a clear crystal-like substance that is believed to be methamphetamine.

During the search, deputies also discovered that Kira’s purse contained a black nylon pouch that has two baggies of methamphetamine, a glass pipe, a role of small baggies, 3 amphetamine pills and 3 clonazepam pills.

Ronnie was booked and incarcerated for the warrants, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Kira was booked and incarcerated for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and a hold for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
