2/15 – Jeff’s “Severe Weather Threat Ahead” Wednesday Afternoon Forecast

The warm and humid pattern continues across South Mississippi. Temperatures will be in the 70s this afternoon under predominantly cloudy skies, with breaks in the clouds this evening. Breezy conditions will continue for the remainder of the week. There is a 20% chance of a passing shower this afternoon and this evening.

It will be warm and muggy overnight with continued southerly flow into tomorrow. A storm system coming out of the Desert Southwest today will move to its northeast over the next day or so. The low pressure and warm, humid sector with the best dynamics for severe thunderstorms will be located to our north and west. That will remain the case into Thursday.

The cold front will be pushing east through the day tomorrow. There is the potential for pop-up showers and thunderstorms from about mid-morning through mid-afternoon. We are under a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk for severity tomorrow. The threat is for strong damaging wind gusts that could come with a line of showers and thunderstorms. The cold front will push through the area by Thursday night.

There will be a 30-40% chance of lingering rain before daybreak Friday. Clearing and much cooler temperatures arrive to close out the week. A stiff northerly breeze will relax as high pressure gets closer to our area this weekend. Temperatures will be colder for a brief stretch this weekend. But, a moderating trend in the pattern returns as we head into the new work week.
