Suspect and victim identified in fatal shooting in Moss Point

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV) — The identities of a suspect and the victim in a fatal shooting in Moss Point have been released.

On Monday, January 18, 2021, at 8:22PM, Moss Point Police Department Dispatch received a call of shooting involving injuries in the area of Woodlawn Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene along with Moss Point Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance Service who attempted life saving measures. Resuscitation was unsuccessful and the victim, later identified as Caleb Gabriel Lett, 19 years old of Moss Point, was pronounced deceased.

Officers determined Lett suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Moss Point Police Department Officers and Criminal Investigations Division determined Lett was shot and killed during an armed robbery.

At this time, the suspect has been identified as a juvenile, Korey Camron Monroe, 15 year of age of Moss Point. An arrest warrant for Korey Monroe has been issued charging him with Capital Murder. Monroe is not in custody at this time.

Another person of interest has been identified and is wanted for questioning. The name of this individual will not be disclosed at this time. Moss Point Police Department will be working closely and diligently with other law enforcement agencies to locate Korey Monroe.

The Moss Point Police Department, family of the deceased, and the greater community of Moss Point urge citizens to come forward with any additional information and the whereabouts to Korey Monroe.
