17th Gulf Coast Winter Classic Horse Show Comes to Gulfport
The event takes place at the Harrison County Fairgrounds. It’s a six week long AA rated horse show, featuring hunter and jumper events. The show highlights some of the sport’s finest equestrian athletes from across the nation. This is the 17th year the event will be held on the Gulf Coast, exhibiting about 1,000 horses. Not only is it a fun family event, but it also has a huge economic impact on the Coast.
Janet McCarroll, coordinator of the Gulf Coast Winter Classic, says, "We calculated around $40 million, and we’re pretty proud of that, but the thing I like the most is a lot of times certain events are just in one area. This is so wide-spread throughout the Gulf Coast region. These people go everywhere and buy everything and do everything and see everything because they’re here for six weeks and they live here for that time, so they kind of integrate into the communities. Just come out and see the best show jumping in the south!"
You can attend the event every Sunday for the next five weeks, starting at 2 p.m. Admission is free to spectators.
