Thousands in Moss Point, Escatawpa experiencing water outages following main water line break Wednesday

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV) — Thousands of residents in Moss Point and Escatawpa are experiencing water issues after a main water line was damaged Wednesday afternoon.

According to the City of Moss Point, a third-party contractor that had permission to install fiber optic lines hit a main water line at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The portion of the line impacted is located north of Highway 613 near the Pelican Landing Conference Center. Fire hydrants have been opened to decrease pressure in the areas where Clearwater Solutions is working diligently to make repairs.

The damaged water line has caused low water pressure for several residents, according to the city. However, some viewers reported to WXXV on Thursday morning that they have no water at all.

The City of Moss Point says they will contact the Health Department once the repair is made, and a boil water notice will be issued for the entire city. The boil water notice will stay in place until water samples satisfy all requirements set by the Health Department.

For any questions or for more information, you can contact the City of Moss Point Public Works at 228-475-1151.
