Public outcry over Biloxi’s Saenger Theater

It was a packed house at Biloxi’s City Council meeting today over the future of the Saenger Theater.

During a city council meeting earlier this month, an item that would award a contract to the Saenger Theater to fix their fly tower and roof for $2 million was on the agenda.

The city voted to table the issue for 60 days.

At today’s city council meeting, citizens voiced their concerns and explained why they believe the 90-year-old theater should be saved and restored.

City officials say as of right now they do not have plans to tear down the theater.

The council will take up this issue again within the next couple of weeks.
