12th annual Walking on Water

Want to help stop hunger on the Gulf Coast? You can do just that bright and early tomorrow on the Biloxi Bay Bridge for the 12th annual “Walking on Water” event.

You can join Coast Young Professionals tomorrow to bridge the gap to hunger by raising money and canned food donations for those in need along the Gulf Coast.

All of those donations will benefit Feeding the Gulf Coast. It all starts at 8 a.m. on the Ocean Springs side of the bridge and group walk will being at 9.

This effort originally started to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Coast Young Professionals Director Lindsay Mitchell said, “Essentially this event kind of started to commemorate Katrina and the fact that people really still needed help at the time and the bridge opened up 12 years ago so they included this bridge walk. Basically we are just trying to make everyone aware that we have food insecurities in our own backyard.”

This is the 12th year Coast Young Professionals has held this event and they hope to keep it going until hunger is a thing of the past on our Coast.
