12/31 – Rob Knight’s “Severe Threat Tonight” Forecast
Deep moisture continues to flow out of the Gulf providing some isolated showers but there should be some activity that becomes more robust as we move through this evening. The cold front will move through tonight into Friday morning. The area is under a SLIGHT risk of severe t-storms. The timing looks to be this evening – 11 PM, then again very early Friday morning around sunrise as the main front moves through south Mississippi.
Main concerns will be the possibility for strong straight line winds, isolated tornadoes and small hail.
The front should clear the area Friday morning with some over-running expected to bring light rain Friday afternoon. Clearing will occur Saturday afternoon as the upper support for this system move east and high-pressure begins to move in.
