1/11 – Jeff’s “Severe Thunderstorms Possible Tomorrow” Thursday Night Forecast
Mild temperatures persist overnight while winds will be picking up and remaining breezy overnight. They will elevate through the overnight hours and a Wind Advisory will go into effect from 6 AM through 6 PM Friday, with winds shifting from southerly to westerly following the passage of the cold front. Rain chances of 30-40% tonight will become more appreciable as we reach daybreak.
Scattered thunderstorms, some possibly reaching severe thunderstorm criteria, are possible for the area. Some thunderstorms could bring damaging winds while the chances of hail or an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out either. The window of time for severity will be between 5 AM and 11 AM. Skies will clear out in the afternoon following the passage of the cold front.
It will be colder this weekend with freezing morning temperatures, and below-average afternoon high temperatures. Another storm system and more potent shot of cold air make their way into South Mississippi early next week. Rain chances are in play Monday, and bitter cold air arrives Monday night sticking around through the middle of next week. Some moisture cold hang around with cold air moving in, which is hinting at the possibility of some wintry precipitation in the form of ice Monday night but details need to be worked out.
