08/10 Ryan’s “Thunder” Thursday Night Forecast

We saw plenty of thunder and lightning late this afternoon, and it’s very likely we’ll see even more tomorrow. There’s been little change to the local weather pattern, and sadly it seems we’ll see more of the same all the way into the weekend. While Wednesday was slightly drier, today brought some stronger thunderstorms and much more areal rain coverage. I expect similar conditions tomorrow and Saturday, but slightly drier air will begin moving in by Sunday, though I still don’t plan to see significantly more sun until around Wednesday.

The National Hurricane Center adjusted the tropical forecast today, doubling the total amount of hurricanes they expect in the Atlantic from 2-4 to 5-9. That means we’ll likely see a significant uptick in tropical activity over the next few months, so extra attention will be paid to every potential storm. Currently there is one disturbance just North of the Leeward Islands with a 40% chance to develop during the weekend, and another over Florida that is not expected to develop, but will bring heavy rains to that area.
