08/25 Ryan’s “Tropical Activity” Wednesday Night Forecast

We're almost to the statistical peak of the Atlantic hurricane season, and at least one area of interest is likely to move into the Gulf this weekend.

Starting off with the Mississippi Power tropical update today since a developing system has a chance to impact the Gulf Coast. Statistically it’s on the lower end in terms of probability, but close enough to be concerned. I’d like to be clear though there is no confirmed storm impacting South MS. This is not about hype, that’s not my thing, I just want people to have all the information available to make informed decisions.

We’ll keep an eye on it, and update frequently for the rest of the week and the weekend.

Locally we’re starting to see more noticeable changes. Today’s rainfall was more in line with what I would consider average, and I’m expecting above average for the rest of the week. Temperatures will fall into the upper 80s and low 90s during this time thanks to the additional cloud cover and more rain-cooled air reaching the surface. The heat index will still be in the low 100s, so continue to limit outdoor activity during peak heating hours (10 am- 4 pm).
