08/16 Ryan’s “Hotter, Drier” Monday Night Forecast

Average high for this time of year in Gulfport is around 91, so expect warmer than that all week long.

Sorry everyone, no video tonight. Capture software wasn’t working. After a close call with Tropical Storm Fred it seems a hotter, drier trend is developing in South MS. The humidity at least will be a short-lived bump, but we’re looking at a steady climb up the thermometer. NOAA gives the area as 60% chance of “above normal” temperatures, which would be around 91 degrees for August.

The extended forecast for today calls for 95 degrees by the start of next week.

That’s starting to creep back up into “heat illness” territory, so plan to take steps to protect yourself from overexposure as you enjoy the beautiful South MS weather. As far as the tropics go, there are three named storms, none of which will affect South MS. We’re just now heading into the peak of the season though, so have your family’s hurricane plan ready to go just in case.
