08/14 Ryan’s “Hottest Day” Wednesday Morning Forecast

Highs peak today, cool for rest of the week!

Today has been forecast to be the hottest day of the week for the last several days, as the temperature and humidity inch up to their highest levels. That’s not to say it’ll be drastically different than the last few days, but the combination of another sunny start, “miserable” humidity (especially on the coast), and upper-level high pressure. Expect heat indices to linger closer to 110 for the coastal counties, and slightly lower inland where it’s a touch drier. It balances out though since they’ll be a little hotter with highs around 100 while the Sound will keep us in the upper 90s.

Expect a high near 97 slightly earlier in the day than usual, popping up in the first few hours after noon. Usually, you’ll get your hottest temperatures around 4 PM around this time of year, but I expect we’ll be seeing thickening cloud cover and another few showers and thunderstorms that’ll cool things down a little. Severe weather is not expected, but like yesterday, as these sea-breeze/heating-based showers and thunderstorms begin to break down they can get loud and scary. Should todays overachieve, watch for gusting winds and lightning, though I expect today will overall be a little calmer thanks to the slightly increased pressure. The temperature goes down in the days ahead as the clouds and rain chances go up. Don’t expect any “cool” weather though, as our “coolest/wettest” day will still see temps in the low 90s.
