08/12 Ryan’s “Slightly ‘Cooler’ Week Ahead” Monday Morning Forecast

It's still hot and humid, but it'll be a little better than how we started off and ended last week.

The title above is correct, while you likely couldn’t tell without looking at the numbers, we are in for a slightly “cooler” week ahead! That’s not to say it’ll be “cool” at any given point, in fact, this morning was likely our coolest at 77 in Gulfport, but it isn’t going to stay there long. Expect each morning through Thursday to be a degree or so warmer than the day before, up to 81 in the Gulfport area by the end of the week. That’s when we’ll finally see decent cloud cover and moisture, leading to our first day with a rain chance greater than 20% in about 2 weeks…even then though, it’s still only around 30% and largely in the afternoon.

That’s getting a bit ahead of myself though, so lets talk about today. Expect a sunny, mild-to-warm start to the day with lows ranging from around 72 degrees in our coolest inland areas, but as high as 80 on the coast. As we climb into the afternoon this will flip, leading to our inland counties ending up a degree or two warmer than the coast, highs ranging from 95-99 degrees. While that above average in regards to the temperature and humidity, it’s an improvement over where we started last week with a couple triple digit days mixed in. I don’t expect any significant rain or thunderstorm activity, but you could see a stray shower try to get going as the sea breeze struggles this afternoon thanks to high pressure overhead.
