05/25 Ryan’s “Wet Memorial Day” Monday Morning Forecast

We're in for a wet Memorial Day as our rainy/stormy period continues.

It was wet through Memorial Day weekend and it’ll be even wetter as we head deeper into Memorial Day. We’ve already seen a few showers and thunderstorms this morning, and more are on the way. They’ll continue off and on throughout the day, bringing upwards of 2″ on average across the area. That, added to what we saw over the weekend and the previous week have certainly helped out with our drought conditions, but are also leading to flooding issues and flooded areas. Watch for these as you travel about South Mississippi for any wet Memorial Day festivities, especially near our local rivers. Right now there don’t seem to be any significant issues, but Hobolochitto Creek along with the Biloxi, Wolf and Pearl Rivers are all expected to crest in at least minor flood stage by tomorrow.

For today, expect a slightly cooler high near 80 with a 60% chance of encountering any of the showers and thunderstorms. Not much is expected, but there is a level 1 risk of severe weather, so remain weather aware if a stronger storm develops near you.
