02/04 – Brantly’s “Wet Weather Wednesday” Tuesday Afternoon Forecast
Scattered showers are moving through South Mississippi this afternoon, prompting a 40 percent chance of rain for the remainder of the day. Otherwise, skies are overcast and high temperatures will top out in the lower 70s.
Rain chances go up to around 100 percent on Wednesday as widespread showers and thunderstorms move across the region. Some of the storms may be severe. The Storm Prediction Center has placed South Mississippi under a “Slight Risk” for severe weather, which is threat level 2 out of 5 on their scale.
The main threats in any strong or severe storms will be damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall, although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
The threat continues overnight into Thursday morning. By late Thursday afternoon, rain should start to gradually decrease in coverage with clear skies by Friday morning.
