01/20 Ryan’s “Wintry Week” Monday Morning Forecast

Expect cold weather all week long with rare wintry weather mixed in as well!

Get ready for one of the most “wintry” weeks we’ve had in several years as cold weather will linger all week long, and some rare winter weather is moving in! That’ll happen overnight as a low coming out of the southwest comes just close enough to force moisture into our already cold environment, perfectly far enough away it seems to keep significant ice development away. Obviously any shallow standing water will freeze, but it looks like we’ll primarily see dry snow, which doesn’t translate to very much liquid moisture if it gets above freezing…which very few of our South Mississippi cities will until Wednesday afternoon. Still watch for areas of “black ice,” use caution on bridges and overpasses, and avoid travel unless necessary…but otherwise it looks like we’ll end up with the best possible situation to get some southern snow without lingering issues.
